The Annual China Household Appliances Innovation Award is sponsored by China Household Electrical Appliances Research Institute, co-organized by National Household Appliances Industry Information Centre, supported by DIHK, IFA, Institute of Design Strategy and Prototype Innovation of Tsinghua University Art & Science Research Center, and in strategic partnership with SUNING.

This activity adheres to the principles of “openness, fairness and transparency”, and selects the innovation achievements of household appliances from the household appliance industry every year through a set of strict procedures composed of “solicitation, primary selection and evaluation”, so that high-quality brands and excellent products can stand out, thus enhancing the exchanges between Chinese and foreign household appliances industries, and promoting the innovation and upgrading of the global household appliance industry.

In November 2005, the 1st Annual China Household Appliances Innovation Award was held during the “1st Household Appliances Expo in Taizhou City of Zhejiang Province”.

In 2009, the Annual China Household Appliances Innovation Award, China’s high-quality brands and excellent products were displayed at IFA in Germany for the first time, and the first “China Day” was held. In 2009 when China’s household appliance industry was under rapid development, the activity set up a platform for the household appliance industry and enterprises to show themselves on a larger international arena. In 2014, after ten years of innovation, the 10th Annual China Household Appliances Innovation Award was released at IFA in Germany, becoming the most influential international event in China’s household appliance industry. As a “famous brand” representing China’s household appliances innovation achievements, the activity has witnessed China’s growing capability of household appliances innovation, allowed more and more innovative household appliance enterprises go global, enabled the whole world to witness the rapid development and progress of China’s household appliance industry, realized the growing product quality, service level, brand reputation and international influence of China’s household appliances, and constantly expanded the influence of “Made by China”.

In 2018, the Annual China Household Appliances Innovation Award has been held at IFA in Germany for the tenth consecutive year, which attracted wide attention from many domestic and foreign media and people engaged in the household appliance industry, and won international popularity and influence for the brands of Chinese household appliance enterprises.

The activity set up Remarkable Innovation Award, Technology Innovation Award, Product Innovation Award, Design Innovation Award, Standard Innovation Award, Most Influential Chinese Household Appliance Brand, Most Influential Chinese Small Household Appliance Brand, Most Influential Foreign Chinese Household Appliance Brand, Most Innovational Chinese Household Appliance Brand, Most Innovational Chinese Household Appliance Brand, and Most Influential Chinese powerful Household Appliance Brand and other categories, aiming to allow global consumers to know the product quality and service level of “Made by China”.

The activity won active participation by leading enterprises in the industry, including Haier, Midea, Gree, Hisense, Siemens, Bosch, Fotile, Joyoung, TCL, AUX and so on.

Only reformers advance, only innovators are strong, and only those who reform and innovate win. At present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is in the ascendant, which has brought profound changes to human development, and a new consumption era has begun. Persisting in innovation-driven development and shaping new development advantages in an all-round way is the long-term mission given by the times to China’s household appliance industry. Annual China Household Appliances Innovation Award will continue to move forward side by side with China’s household appliance industry, keep pace with the times, carry forward the spirit of innovation, spread innovative products, stimulate innovation potential and explore new paths for industry development.
