INMETRO is The Brazilian National Institute for Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality, which is responsible for implementing the INMETRO certification system (covering safety, energy efficiency and noise certification requirements) and for market surveillance. Products that fall within the scope of control must apply for certification from an INMETRO accredited authority, and only after the products have been certified and labelled with the INMETRO logo they can be legally distributed in the Brazilian market.
