Under Japan's Electrical Products Safety Law, 457 products must be certified by PSE to enter the Japanese market. Of these, 116 types of A products are specific electrical appliances and materials and must obtain certification and have the PSE (diamond) mark applied to the product, while 341 types of B products are non-specific electrical appliances and materials and must be self-promoted or apply for third party certification and have the PSE (round) mark applied to the product.
