Since 2018, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and quality Organization (SASO) has implemented a new product certification scheme-SALEEM. The scheme is a conformity assessment program under the auspices of SASO. Traders and importers can apply to the designated conformity assessment agency (N-CABs) to carry out the conformity assessment procedure (CAPs) stipulated in the corresponding technical regulations before the products enter the Saudi local market. Only qualified products that have obtained the "declaration of conformity" can enter the Saudi local market. In addition, since 2010, Saudi Arabia has implemented a mandatory performance labelling scheme, all products within the scope of the scheme must meet mandatory performance standards and register energy efficiency labels.
