RoHS certification, also known as Pollution Control Certification, is a certification system promoted and standardized by the state for management purposes. Its full name is "Voluntary Certification for Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products." The purpose of this standard is to reduce or eliminate six substances in electronic information products, included lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. This standard applies to products such as whole machines, components, parts and components, materials, etc.

In 2018 and 2019, the Chinese government successively issued the "Catalogue of Management of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" and the "Management Measures for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products," and formulated the "Implementation Arrangement for the Qualification Assessment System of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products." It is required that products included in the "Catalogue of Management of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (first batch)" and manufactured or imported after November 1, 2019, shall meet the RoHS requirements through self-declaration or product certification.
